AMARACMAND SUSTAINABILITY

OUR COMMITMENT FOR

Future
Generations

We regularly clean the diversion ditches, which all too often cause flooding during heavy rains, and we maintain some roads accessible at our own expense even though these practices are not our responsibility.

We reuse grape stalks to consolidate the soil and encourage grass to grow on areas subject to runoff and in new vineyards that are not perfectly grassed over.
Their use also favours the rooting of various wild grasses that are particularly important for good vineyard management during the vegetation phase.

Grape marc and lees, on the other hand, are used to produce farm compost. We store and channel rainwater to control hydrogeological balances and recover water resources for agronomic purposes.

The Care We Take
to Preserve this Earth

We have a phyto-purification system that we use for the cellar water, so that it can be subsequently used for emergency irrigation and treatments in the vineyards.

We carry out regular preservation operations and maintenance of the surrounding woodlands to protect biodiversity and the hydrogeological balance, with a view to preventing the propagation of forest fires and to provide a barrier against potential plant diseases that would be harmful to the vineyards spreading to them from neighbouring cultivations.

We keep the height of the grass cover low, with regular mowing operations to organically enrich the soil and protect against fires, alternating with areas where we encourage the propagation of wild flowers and grasses that are useful for pollination and soil enrichment (sulla, hypericum, equisetum, dandelion).

During the growing season, we monitor and measure rainfall constantly (with weather stations and rain gauges). Along with the monitoring of the passage of insects that carry plant diseases (phytotraps and decoys), this allows us to minimise treatments in the vineyard, resorting to them only when necessary. This reduces water wastage and protects the well-being and reproduction of beneficial insects such as ladybirds and dragonflies.

Sustainability is a principle that makes no sense if applied to the environment alone. We believe it is essential that it benefits not only future generations, but also the people who work with us today. With this in mind, we are committed to being respectful towards and honest with our employees, customers and partners because it is only by working together that we can all achieve the best outcome.
